Full Time Officers (FTOs) are the top leaders of your Students’ Union and work full-time to make your student life better. Elected by students every March, they work for a year to represent your views to the University, run campaigns to deliver real change and support the work of our incredible student volunteers.
You can get to know your new Full-Time Officers (FTOs) for 2025/26 a little bit better here!
Rory O'Ceallaigh
Hi, I’m Rory, and I’m your new LUSU President for 2025/26!
I have experience working with the Students' Union through my various roles on the Furness JCR Exec, previously holding positions of Socials & Events Officer, Vice President Socials & Events, JCR President in 2024, Furness JCR Vice President Democracy & Finance, and Student Trustee.
We’re currently going through a time of big change with the Curriculum Transformation Programme and a new Vice Chancellor. As LUSU President, I wish to reframe student-university relations to put student needs first.
My key aims for the year are to control rent prices; to protect student jobs through University financial cuts; and to make Lancaster city centre a safer place for students.

Liz Gillet
Hi, I’m Liz your new Education Officer! I’m a final year Politics, International & and Management student from Cartmel College.
During my time as President of the Kickboxing society, I organised The Sugarhouse Fight Night, facilitated Women's+ training sessions, and tripled the society’s members. Through this, I gained key communication, analytical and problem solving skills which will allow me to effectively advocate for students’ academic needs as the Education Officer.
My key aims during my role are to ensure that students and education quality are core to the Curriculum Transformation Programme; review the Academic Rep system; and to develop flexible timetabling options which allow students to work part-time jobs during their studies.

I’ve previously represented students within my President roles for Pendle JCR (President of the Year), Pendle Netball, Harry Potter Society, plus through my role as the Women’s+ Non-Inter-Varsity Sports Representative on the Sports Committee.
As your Activities Officer, I wish to encourage and improve accessibility, transparency, inclusion and support for all sports, societies, and media groups. I'm also looking forward to hosting an unforgettable 60th Anniversary Home Roses!
My key aims for the year are to lobby for academic-free Wednesdays; create a more secure Access Fund; and to expand student leader training to include mental health, accessibility, and sustainability.
