LUSU Green collaborates with 48 organisations championing sustainability locally, regionally and internationally! Here are some great local, regional and on campus groups you can get involved in! 

Local Organisations 

 

  • LUSU Green - home for sustainability volunteering, events and campaigns based in your Students’ Union!  
  • Claver Hill - community growing project, located on six acres of land on the edge of Lancaster. 
  • Eggcup - Eggcup stops surplus food from going to waste and gets it to people instead  
  • The Bay: A Blueprint for Recovery - Nature and Wellbeing Programme, offering people around Morecambe Bay the opportunity to get outdoors and connect with nature  
  • RSPB Leighton Moss - RSPB site which provides shelter to a spectacular range of wildlife including Otters, Bearded Tits, Bitterns, Marsh Harriers, egrets and Red Deer  
  • FoodFutures - an award-winning Sustainable Food Place initiative  
  • Animal Care - animal rescue charity, rehoming 800 animals annually  
  • Sewing Cafe Lancaster - grassroots project that advocates for an ethical textile industry and regenerative textile practices.  

 

Regional Organisations  

 

  •  Fylde Sand Dunes Project - Enhance the nature conservation interest of the coastal habitats and as a soft sea defence 
  • Lancashire Wildlife Trust - volunteer to enhance nature and meet new people  
  • Ribble Rivers Trust - Lancashire based charity working to improve the River Ribble and all its tributaries for both people and wildlife.  
  • Lune Rivers Trust – An Environmental charity whose aim is to bring environmental improvements to the streams and rivers in the Lune catchment  
  • Restoring Hardknott Forrest - create and restore 630 hectares of native woodland and other wildlife rich habitats  
  • Wild Ingleborough - Wild Ingleborough is an ambitious, landscape-scale project working with the community to bring about nature’s recovery in this part of North Yorkshire.  
  • Wild Garsdale Pike - Wild Garsdale Pike works with young people giving them a voice and the opportunity to explore conservation and environmental issues and gain practical conservation and research experience.
