Twice a term, your representatives meet to discuss the work of LUSU and, from time to time, set LUSU policy at Union Assembly. However, once a year we invite all students to set Union policy and hold the Union to account: at our Annual General Meeting. 

 

 

The AGM 

When: 3pm, Tuesday 16th June 2026 (Week 29)

Who can come: the AGM is open to all members of LUSU (aka Lancaster University students) 
  

 
Submitting a Motion 

If you’d like to propose a policy to be voted on by your fellow students, all you need to do is submit a motion.

Deadline for motions: 3pm, Tuesday 2nd June 2026 

Motions will be reviewed by Democracy Committee and published on the LUSU website on Wednesday 3rd June. Motions will then be open for proposed amendments. 
  

 
Can’t make it? Send a proxy 

If you’d love to be there, but can’t make it – you can send one of your fellow students. They act as your proxy and vote on your behalf.

The Agenda for the AGM 

As a formal part of our governance, and as combined with our normal Union Assembly meetings, the meeting will follow a set order: 

1. Introduction: approval of minutes, apologies, and recognition of proxies 
2. End of Year reports: reports from LUSU on our work in 2025/26 
3. Motions: discussion and votes on your proposals 
4. Accounts: scrutiny and approval for the Union’s accounts 
5. Affiliations: scrutiny and approval for the Union’s affiliations 
6. Questions for the Trustees: your opportunity to put questions directly to LUSU’s Trustees 

 

The meeting will be overseen by the Union Assembly Chair. 

In accordance with our governing documents, the AGM requires at least 150 members in attendance to pass binding votes on policy motions.
