At LUSU, sport is in our blood. From the sports clubs we facilitate—competitive and casual play alike—to the biggest intervarsity tournament in Europe, Roses! This year, we won Roses for the fifth time in a row, a historical, record-breaking achievement.
But of course, we couldn’t just let out sporting success stop there.
British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS for short) is the place for sport and physical activity in the higher education sector.
BUCS organises competition competitions and events through leagues and fixtures such as the BUCS Nationals and BUCS Conference Finals.
And not to brag (we’re definitely bragging), but Lancaster has been smashing it!

Going for Gold!
And gold medals were won by:
Lancaster students competed in 35 different BUCS Sports this year, with 574 BUCS fixtures played. With a 53.8%-win rate, we think it’s safe to say our teams have had an incredibly successful year!
Oh, and out of 15 BUCS matches against York, Lancaster won 10.
Congratulations to all of the teams and individuals that took part in sport this year and thank you for giving it your all!
