Rory is the 2025/26 LUSU President.

We want you to apply to be a Welcome Rep and help your JCR shape and deliver Freshers’ Week 2026!

Being a Welcome Rep is a volunteering commitment, running from Saturday 26th September to Sunday 4th October 2026. You’ll be expected to take on responsibility for freshers over the week, help on move-in day (including cheering on the roundabout!), and represent your College. But it won’t be all work, you can take part in events through the week, and you won’t be scheduled onto every event running – some days (and nights) you’ll have off completely!

If the joy of volunteering doesn’t sell it for you, you’ll be keen to know what else you get from the role:

  • Free entry to The Sugarhouse throughout Freshers’ Week 2026, including on nights you’re not working
  • A Welcome Rep T-shirt provided by the College
  • Early move in if you live in on-campus accommodation
  • Comprehensive training
  • An official record of your volunteering on your Lancaster University degree transcript
  • More perks in the works!

Taking on this responsibility is a great addition to your CV, contributes to the Lancaster Award, and can also be a great way to encourage new students to join your club or society!

Training will be held in person on Friday 25th September, and there will be online modules to complete as well.

So, think this role is for you? Apply by getting in touch with your JCR by messaging them on Instagram (see below), or email me at lusupresident@lancaster.ac.uk and I’ll pass on your details!

Graduate College will be putting out a separate call for Arrivals Weekend Volunteers closer to the summer holidays, so keep an eye out for that if you are a postgrad!
