The Students’ Union is excited to launch a ground-breaking series of workshops as part of our Access and Participation Plan (APP), and we're inviting you to be a pivotal part of this initiative.

 

 

Our commitment is to ensure every student, regardless of background, can access, succeed, and progress in higher education.

Why Participate in Our Workshops?

We understand that the journey through higher education is not the same for everyone. Some students face obstacles that others do not, which is why our workshops are tailored to address these unique challenges. By joining our workshops, you're not just attending another event; you're stepping into a space where your voice can help shape the future of equitable education.

 

Workshop Details

Duration: 1-2 hours

Participants: 6-10 per session

Eligible UK Home students must identify with one or more of the following groups: 

• IMD Quintile 1 (this is a measure of relative deprivation, based off your postcode)
• Free School Meals
• Asian
• Black
• Mixed ethnicity
• Combined Asian, Black, Mixed ethnicity.
• Mental health disability
• Combined all disability

Incentive: £40 per participant (voucher to spend in a shop or online store of your choosing)

 

What is the Access and Participation Plan?

Our APP outlines how we aim to improve equality of opportunity for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to access, succeed in, and progress from higher education. It's about identifying barriers and implementing strategies to overcome them, ensuring all students have the opportunities they deserve.

 

Why We're Doing This

Education should be a right, not a privilege. Yet, for too many, barriers remain. Our workshops are a step towards dismantling these barriers, offering targeted sessions for groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education. It's about creating a community where everyone has the support they need to thrive.
