Don’t Ditch it. Donate it, is the university’s annual call for people to ‘rethink, reuse, and repurpose unwanted household items and clothing.’ The project encourages both students to donate and exchange items they no longer need, rather than discarding them.
Donation points are currently set up across campus, after officially opening on Monday 12th May.
Donation hubs can be found at:
ECOHub Barn: Alexandra Park Drive
North Donation Hub: North Drive
Students and staff can donate between 6-9PM every Monday and Wednesday, with donation times increasing as term goes on. For further opening times, you can check out the website here.
What can you donate?
The hubs accept donations of:
• Clothing, shoes, and accessories
• Furniture
• Kitchen items
• Books and stationery
• Unopened cosmetics and cleaning products
• Clean, washed bedding sets
(Duvets, pillows, and broken or dirty items are not able to be donated. Food is also unable to be donated – to donate food, look here for more info.)
On the initiative, LUSU Green said: ‘We’re delighted to see the Don’t Ditch It, Donate It project return once again this year. The project is an essential part of creating a circular economy on campus, and provides invaluable benefit to dozens of local, national and international charities and their communities’.
